The German company currently ranking as worldwide technology leader with its long wavelength laser diodes, offers its innovative products in the Thorlabs catalog. This cooperation represents a significant step for VERTILAS, as sales opportunities are considerably expanded. Comprising a wide range of around 10,000 products for optical and photonic users, the catalog enjoys an excellent reputation throughout the branch and is an indispensable tool found in virtually all research and development laboratories. Founded in 1989, the US corporation offers an extensive product range of optical and opto-mechanical components, all the way through to integrated testing and measuring systems. Every year, Thorlabs publishes some 150,000 copies of its catalog and guarantees a 24 hour delivery time for virtually all products.
"The catalog has only been on the markets for three weeks and we have already booked the first incoming orders," enthuses Gerhard Vollnhals, the managing director of VERTILAS GmbH. Another major advantage is the fact that Thorlabs is also represented in North and South America, as well as in Asia.
"This provides us with a worldwide presence and a solid platform on which to enhance our reputation on these continents," as Gerald Vollnhals explains.
VERTILAS develops, produces and sells innovative laser diodes for optical communications technology, sensor engineering and measuring methods. Based on its newly developed products, the company is positioned as the leading global provider in the field of long wavelength surface-emitting laser diodes. The technology is serving a wide range of different industrial applications. In automotive engineering, for example, these lasers are harnessed in optimizing engine performance and exhaust emission. In addition to their high data transmission speed in the telecommunications area, VERTILAS lasers are also capable of detecting very hot gases and are making valuable contributions to enhanced quality and safety in environmental applications.
"Thanks to the innovative VERTILAS laser diodes we have been able to expand our extensive offerings of laser diodes in the wavelength range of up to 2050 nanometers. These new additions have also enabled us to leverage Thorlabs' know-how in the control of laser diodes and generate valuable synergy effects. The long wavelength laser diodes by VERTILAS also offer us the opportunity to enter new application areas and open up new customer groups," as Sebastian Krollmann, Marketing Communications Manager of Thorlabs Germany, outlined.
About VERTILAS GmbH
VERTILAS GmbH, headquartered in Garching, develops, produces and sells innovative laser diodes for optical communications technology, sensor engineering and measuring methods. Based on its recently developed laser diodes with a wavelength range of 1300 to 2050 nanometers, VERTILAS is positioned as the leading global provider in the field of long wavelength surface-emitting laser diodes (VCSEL: Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser). In contrast to traditional laser diode technology, these newly developed laser diodes by VERTILAS emit vertically upward and are therefore called Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers. These VCSEL diodes stand out for their high-speed transmission of data (up to 10 Gbit/s), as well as their small structural shape, low threshold currents and low power consumption.
